2018 – Karen Kingsbury

The speaker for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Lynchburg Community Prayer Breakfast in 2018 was Karen Kingsbury. A #1 New York Times bestselling novelist, Karen is America’s favorite inspirational storyteller, with more than 25 million copies of her award-winning books in print. Her last dozen titles have topped national bestseller lists and many of her novels are under development as major motion pictures and television series

2017 – T. Scott Garrett, MD

The special speaker for the November 2017 prayer breakfast was T. Scott Garrett M.D., who represented Virginia’s 23rd House District until 2020. Scott grew up in Lynchburg, graduating with the E. C. Glass H. S. Class of 1974. He received his B. A. in Economics in 1978 and M. D. degree in 1984 from the University of Virginia. He has practiced as a general surgeon in our community since 1989. He also served as the Chief of General Surgery for Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital.

2016 – Dr. Ajay Pillai

Dr. Ajay Pillai, the speaker for the 2016 prayer breakfast, is the International Director for INIM Inc., established in 1964, a multi-faceted, indigenous evangelism and church-planting ministry located in New Delhi, India. Their organization’s training school, Grace Bible College, largest of its kind in South Asia established in 1972, currently has 681 full-time students from 59 South Asian people groups. Since 1964, INIM has established over 15,000 native churches throughout South Asia.

2015 – Sara Ballenger

The speaker in 2015 was Sara Ballenger, Founder and President of Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP). A homemaker and teacher when called to found this work twenty years ago, Sara has sought to obey the will of God in her life, by calling others to “pray . . . for all in authority” daily. Today, CHPP reaches out to a network of over 4,000 intercessors with an online, daily prayer alert; maintains a hidden network of 28 prayer shields; and coordinates a daily prayer watch on Capitol Hill, every day that Congress is in session.

2014 – Don Banker

Don was the guest speaker at the 46th annual Community Prayer Breakfast in 2014. He founded Banker Steel Company in 1997 where he continues as CEO/President. Under Don’s leadership, Banker Steel has fabricated award winning projects that include the Barclays Center Arena, Washington Nationals Stadium, World Trade Center Tower 1 and The International Gem Tower. Don has grown the company to include two plants in Lynchburg, Virginia where it is headquartered, and a plant in Orlando, Florida enabling Banker Steel to serve the entire east coast.

2013 – Nigel Alleyne

In 2013, the 45th annual community prayer breakfast featured speaker Nigel Alleyne, founder and Senior Pastor of All Nations Community Church. Nigel is a native of Barbados, West Indies. He graduated from Blue Water Bible College, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands before moving to Lynchburg to attend Liberty University in1982. He has undergraduate degrees in theology and pastoral studies, and two graduate degrees: Master of Divinity and Master of Counseling. He has been pastor of 2nd St. Paul Baptist Church, Altavista, VA since 1987. He is an adjunct Professor of Theology at Virginia University of Lynchburg.
